Most of us have a special place or two that allow our thoughts to rise above our daily aspirations. I am lucky to have several places close to home....not difficult when you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
One of these sacred places is the dyke along the Squamish River. Every time I go there, there is something special to see and feel. Here is where, in winter time, thousands of Bald Eagles gather to feast on salmon that have spawned several weeks earlier. The sand bar that forms at the entrance to Judd Slough is always changing. Sometimes we see seals and otters. Always there are many different water birds. Occasionally we have followed a black bear until it veers from the trail toward the water. Once coyotes almost succeeded in luring our small dog (now no longer with us) away from us.
It is a place that can quiet the mind and fill me with awe. I can return home refreshed, ready to get on with the rest of my day.
Do you wish you could share this with me?
